Peach Basil Smash!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Here we are again at the start of a new week and ready to have a little fun! We hope y'all had a fabulous 4th of July, we certainly did. Time spent with the kids on the farm, some gorgeous fireworks and a cool night breeze sure got us in the spirit of things. Yesterday we finally got back to work with a wedding that has been in the works for quite some time now and with all the changes to our world recently, it has been a true feat of accomplishment that it all came together. Though a huge success, it was not without new trials due to the changes in Corona. We and our staff did an amazing job and today I feel like this fun, fresh summery cocktail is definitely well earned!

A smash is one of my favorite summer cocktails! I absolutely love how fresh and vibrant they are and so versatile as well. You can really choose any favorite fruit or herb and turn it into something really delightful.

One of our signature cocktails is our Strawberry Basil Smash. It is like eating a sun ripened strawberry fresh off the vine! Today I don't happen to be so lucky as to have any of those vine ripened berries at my disposal so I had to choose another favorite that I did.

Y'all, I love peaches. Perhaps one of if not my favorite fruit of all time! They are sweet and rich and warm and juicy and the flavors are so complex. A peach can be eaten right off the tree, made into pies or jam or over ice cream or even grilled!! All of those lovely caramel notes and bright sweet flavors pair so well with almost everything. In a salad, for breakfast, in a smoothie, as dessert. I could go on and on. So, what better way to honor this lovely little yellow-red fruit than in a bright, fun cocktail?! Plus, even better, my Basil plant is so amazing right now and smells just absolutely unbelievable! I couldn't not use it in something!

Peach Basil Smash

Today I made this a little unique from my normal recipe and it turned out great! Im going to share this one with you and then in another post another time, I'll share my original recipe when those strawberries come my way ;)

1 1/2 oz. Hendrick's Gin

1 oz. Muscat wine (Spicewood Springs is a lovely winery here in Texas, its a great one if you can find it)

1 oz. Peach Pureed (a peach syrup can also be used if you don't have fresh peaches on hand)

2-3 oz. Club Soda depending on your taste

2-3 Large leaves of freshly picked Basil

Muddle Basil leaves and Peach puree in your glass.

Add in Gin and Muscat Wine,

add ice and club soda and stir well

top with a beautiful Basil leaf and enjoy!

I hope y'all try this one out on your next cocktail night and let me know what you try and other fruits or herbs you use! Always looking for great ideas!!

Y'all have a relaxing and wonderful night!

with love and blessings,
